Family Guy S05E09

31 01 2007

I was just watching this, wondering when was the last time it made me laugh out loud, and then this joke came along and cracked me up. Peter has his driving licence revoked, and so he has to stay home and entertain himself. After a failed attempt at integrating himself into the cast of Cheers, he decides to make up his own sitcom in his mind, complete with an upbeat 80’s theme tune. Watch the video after the jump.

itunes video content for Europe at last

31 01 2007

Yesterday the Government of Luxembourg confirmed that Apple inc were setting up their European base there to start video distribution over itunes. Luxembourg is already home to a few other European headquarters of major corporations like Amazon and AOL (hey, wait a minute, they all start with A as well). Apparently it’s because Luxemborg have the lowest rates of VAT in Europe. So anyway, the economy minister Jeannot Krecke blabbed and I’m sure Apple are resisting the urge to sue the pants off the whole country.

Suspects

31 01 2007

As pilot season picks up in the US, it has emerged Guy Ritchie is to direct a pilot about a procedural crime drama with a twist, because of course, there aren’t enough of those on TV right now. Innovation be damned, give me more crime dramas!! If this is any good, and by any good I mean has even the remotest chance of a Madonna regular guest starring appearance, UK networks will be all over this like a 5-day a week soap. If you are wondering why I am so late with the news, it’s because I just realised that I drafted this ages ago but forgot to publish it. Flippin Amateur.

What I’m watching Tonight…

30 01 2007

I’ll be watching Prison Break, Heroes and 24. Back to back to back. In that order. But if that combo doesn’t tickle you, and you are in the UK, I would advise you to turn it to five at 9pm and watch the season 7 premiere of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. In an attempt to stave off the threat of Greys Anatomy in the same timeslot in the US, the writers break with tradition and introduce an ongoing mystery which is quite intriguing. But that isn’t why you need to watch tonight.

Smallville and product placement..

30 01 2007

I have had enough of this program trying to sell me products, in between telling me a story. I don’t even know why I bother watching this any more, everything I ever wanted to see from this series has happened, it’s time for Clark to move to Metropolis if he’s not going to sex all the Smallville girls at super speed and start robbing banks. I can’t stand by and watch these characters hawking products to me in modern day Smalllville. It is too much for me.

Babelgum

30 01 2007

Remember when I asked for an invitation to Joost? And nobody replied? Well I didn’t take it personally. Anywho, they aren’t the only ones with a serious IPTV offering this year. Babelgum have snuck up without the hype of Joost, but look to have a solid product on their hands. Over at NewTeeVee, they reviewed it a couple of weeks ago, and I just got round to reading it today. Check out their website, they are looking for content. If you are a budding Youtube/Revver director, it might just be the outlet you need to let your creative juices flow.

Connection problems

29 01 2007

I’m having trouble with my internet connection, so I may not be able to post tomorrow. Don’t worry though, worst case scenario you have to actually do some work instead of faking it at your desk for the first few hours of the day! Peace!

Hi-Def T&A

29 01 2007

Is that what you want? When it comes to enhanced video technology, nothing gets consumers buying new equipment like the flesh. VHS, DVD Pay-Per-View and the internet were all built on a solid foundation of pornography. Men not getting any at home, tired of their wives or just looking for something new, all heading down to the electrical store to buy the latest gizmo that will bring them closer to Jenna Jameson and Kobe Tai. Happy Days.

Two-Way TV

29 01 2007

If I say the phrase “Two-Way TV” to you, what would you make of it? Some sort of interactivity? Maybe a red button function where you are watching an ad and you click to buy the product? Or maybe something where people in a studio can hear you shouting abuse at them? Well you would be wrong on all counts. Wrong wrong wrong.See what the boffins at Sharp have created, after the jump.

Harry Hill’s TV Burp

29 01 2007

Fresh from winning a couple of British comedy awards, Harry Hill returned to TV screens last week. I watched it yesterday, and it was hilarious. One thing about this show is that the moment the end credits roll, I can’t remember what I was laughing at just minutes before. Strange one that. The end result is that I have nothing to say about the episode, other than if you don’t watch it you are missing out. Unless of course you don’t like Harry Hill, in which case you are missing nothing. I think this program should be on all year round.

What a rambling post…

26 01 2007

So Mondays from now until April, Prison Break, Heroes and 24 on the same night. Now it’s not so much that I’m tied onto watching them at a certain time, because I have all week. And it’s not as if I mong out in front of the TV flicking through the channels either. Read the rest of this entry »

Ratings for the week Jan 15-21 in the US and UK

26 01 2007

Football, football, football. Even Fox’s largest primetime entertainment audience couldn’t stop the most viewed Championship game since 1986. The effect of the top four seemed to put a drain on everything else, as big guns go head to head all over the schedule.

Skins S01E01 – Update 1

26 01 2007

Skins is the first British drama since E4 launched six years ago. At launch, they had a show called As If, which I always thought was pretty good. A friend of my sisters was in it, so I may have been a little biased though. This is in a similar vein, some young teens trying out drinking, drugging and sexing it up, the main difference being that they are middle class. And that is a good place to start the comparisons.
