Idol producers threw in a “Best of the worst” show, and it garnered the lowest figures of the season. An indication of people growing tired of stupidly bad auditions? maybe, just maybe. And a comedy in the top 10, albeit an average one.

1. American Idol (Tuesday), Fox, 33.4 million viewers

2. American Idol (Wednesday), Fox, 27.9 million viewers

3. Grey’s Anatomy, ABC, 25.2 million viewers

4. House, Fox, 24.9 million viewers

5. CSI, CBS, 22.5 million viewers

6. 49th annual Grammy Awards, CBS, 20 million viewers

7. CSI: Miami, CBS, 18.4 million viewers

8. Desperate Housewives, ABC, 18.1 million viewers

9. Two and a Half Men, CBS, 17.7 million viewers

10. Deal or No Deal (Monday), NBC, 17.4 million viewers

In the UK, the crapfest that was Primeval managed to sneak into the top 10. And does anyone under the age of 80 know what Foyle’s War is about? Whoever Foyle is fighting, I’m on their side!

2. Eastenders (Mon), BBC1, 10.09 million viewers

3. Emmerdale (Mon), ITV1, 9.08 million viewers.

4. Dancing on Ice, ITV1, 9.01 million viewers.

10. Primeval, ITV1, 6.89 million viewers.
