Ricky Gervais introduces his inspiration for “The Office”. (N.B It’s not actually that funny, bearing in mind all the effort they put in to learn their lines… ah well, good try.)

NBC Universal on UK iTunes store

7 05 2008

Well this hasn’t been reported much, amid the launch on Zune Marketplace of NBC Universal content. Although NBC Universal are in (a much publicised) dispute with Apple over TV content on the US iTunes store, they slyly added Heroes and House to the UK store, under the moniker “Universal”. Can a return to the US store be too far behind?

The C Word

18 02 2008

Does anyone remember when Caprice Bourret used the C-word (no, not courage) on morning TV in the UK? It was on This Morning with Richard and Judy, and she was on to promote her stint acting in the fembot spectacle “The Vagina Monologues”. I can’t find the clip (it was before the days where you couldn’t fart without someone uploading it on the interweb) but her accent was so thick that neither Richard nor Judy noticed, ITV got in a bit of trouble and the show got some free publicity.

Well a funny thing happened the other day in New York. Jane Fonda, now starring in the same play on (or maybe off, who cares right?) Broadway, uttered the same word “by accident” during an interview with Meredith Viera on The Today Show. Only it wasn’t an accident, it was very deliberate froma woman who has been in the business long enough to know when you can and can’t use the c-word.

So Vagina Monologues people, this is just a little post to let you know I’m onto your little ruse of fouling the daytime airwaves for free publicity, and you can take it elsewhere, you cunts! (A Bit strong? Maybe)

Anyway, watch Jane Fonda’s innocent slip after the jump…

Knight Rider

2 01 2008

You may have noticed (somebody has, looking at the figures) that I put up a few promos and trailers for upcoming shows that will be debuting early this year. One that I thought I had put up, but turns out it slipped my mind is NBC’s remake of my childhood favourite Knight Rider.

Starting in February,  I had no interest in this project whatsoever until I found out who was doing the voice of KITT. That’s right, the funniest man alive right now, Will Arnett! Yes, Gob Bluth will be saying “Michaaaaael” (or at least ‘Mike’) on television once more, even if not for intentional comedy value.

With the writers strike continuing, I reckon this could do ok as viewers cling to any scripted programming they can find. Watch the Will Arnett teaser complete with new car after the jump.

Heroes S02E11 – Powerless

5 12 2007

It’s 1am and I just finished watching the end of Volume 2 of Heroes. Now that is how you end a season, all is forgiven for the lacklustre season 1 finale that the UK was subjected to tonight!

The great thing about Heroes is that anyone can go at any time, although this is tempered by the fact that Claire’s blood can bring anyone back from the dead.

Can I just ask someone to confirm that NBC showed the alternative ending tonight, and that Volume 3 will continue next September?

watch the Sylar-heavy teaser for Volume 3 after the jumparoo..

30 Rock S02E04 – Rosemary’s Baby

29 10 2007

This was one of the funniest episodes yet. I watched it alone at about 2am, and I was constantly trying to muffle the sounds of my own laughter not to wake people up.

Carrie Fisher made a guest appearance as a washed up comedy writer, and managed to squeeze out her most famous Princess Leia line, as well as uttering a string of obscenities reminiscent of Gob’s famous sexual harrasment speech.

By far the best scene though, and Alec baldwin’s best moment so far as Jack Donaghy was his scene with Tracy Jordan and the psychiatrist.

Watch it after the jump:- Read the rest of this entry »

Heroes S02E05 – Fight or Flight

23 10 2007

A bit of a slow episode, but I am just so happy that Kristen bell has found paid employment again! I am willing to give them time, but I hope that all the story threads come together in a coherent and credible way. Until that time, I will reserve judgment. Also, I love the nightmare mans power. That was insane. Watch the promo for next week after the jump:-
