There was this midseason show called Miss/Guided, and I was really looking forward to it. It starred Judy Greer (Kitty Sanchez in Arrested Development) as a high school guidance counsellor, and the long promo I watched had me chuckling. Then I heard that Rob Thomas (former Exec producer of Veronica Mars) was on board as executive producer and that made it an even better proposition.

Well now it seems Rob Thomas isn’t involved with the project, which is a real shame as he has this knack of making high school/College drama come across very realistically, without much cheese. He left because of creative differences.

So the new exec producer is someone called Mark Hudis. I don’t know who he is, but he better be able to make with the ha ha from episode one. no pressure though Mark!

Pilots at Last!

23 07 2007

Aaaah, its all coming together. The scaffolding around my flat is coming down, which means the TV reception came back! I bought a laptop so I will be able to blog regularly again. And most important of all, pilots have started leaking onto the interweb! I will be watching Chuck and The Sarah Connor Chronicles at some point this week and I will let you know my thoughts on both!! What a result for you all!

19 06 2007

I’m off to Japan for a little over a week, so you lot can entertain yourselves. I would advise you to watch the season premiere of Entourage (S04E01)and try and catch John From Cincinnati, which is really out there. I think I like it, give me one more week. Other than that, if anyone sees any 07-08 pilots leaked on “teh internets” while I’m away, be sure to post the links in the comments below. Thats right, do my work for me.

Video Previews of all the Pilots

21 05 2007

I was sifting through Youtube, hoping to find previews of all the pilots announced last week, before I get the chance to watch them all. But TV Week beat me to it. Click here to see 1-2 min preview of everything, all wrapped up in a neat little package that I couldn’t have done better myself. That should kill at least an hour of your day.

Columbo S01E01 – Pilot

16 04 2007

I’m always calling Columbo the gold standard of detective shows, the one that has seeped into pop culture, the most quotable main character that everyone thinks they can do an impression of, the one everyone compares themselves to when they solve even the smallest mystery. I decided to watch the pilot, written by Stephen Bochco and directed by Steven Spielberg, to see if it was worth all the hype and how it would stack up today.

Andy Barker P.I., we hardly knew ye

10 04 2007

As expected, NBC gave Andy Barker P.I. the heave-ho this weekend after 6 episodes, only two of which were worth watching twice. If the show had a flaw it was maybe that it should have been an hour long drama with comic overtones, just so the mysteries could be drawn out a bit longer, a few more twists and turns. The last two episodes will play out on NBC in the graveyard slot of Saturday 8-9pm. An opportunity methinks for a UK net to step in and purchase six episodes on the cheap from NBC Universal.

Sunrise, sunset. As one Arrested Development stars comedy vehicle fades into obscurity, another peeks over the horizon. David Cross has been signed up for the pilot of I’m in hell, a CBS sitcom that sounds like it’s going to be funny (oxymoron, I know). Jason Biggs (he who put his penis in the American Pie) is a Wall Street exec who dies and goes to hell, who dies in a BlackBerry-related car crash, but because hell is at full capacity, he is reassigned to Hell on Earth and must figure out a way to get by without his career and all the trappings of his former existence. Sounds like a long-winded premise but I will give it a go.

Michelle Ryan is….The Bionic Woman!

13 02 2007

Wow, this is interesting news. Michelle Ryan, formerly of BBC’s ‘continuing drama’ Eastenders, has won the lead role in NBC’s Bionic Woman pilot. The buzz around this project suggests that unless it is an absolute disaster, it will be picked up. And by buzz, I mean that I keep reading stories about it on Yahoo! TV, not that I’m standing around in Hollywood talking up ex-Eastenders actresses. “Sick and tired of hearing about the Funke!” I wonder what accent she will speak with?
