Ricky Gervais introduces his inspiration for “The Office”. (N.B It’s not actually that funny, bearing in mind all the effort they put in to learn their lines… ah well, good try.)

Scrubs Promo

18 10 2007

Why do NBC always do this? Remember the promo for season 3 of The Office, with a montage of Jim and Pam as if we had been waiting two years for them to kiss? Or the trailers for the Friends episodes where Joey fell in love (although he got over that quicker than a writer can pen a new draft)? Well the guys in Promos at NBC have struck again, this time with the trailer for the final season of Scrubs. Watch it with a sick bag by your side after the jump:-

NBC pull out of the itunes store

31 08 2007

Now that is a shame. I know I said this last year, but with the advent of high-def downloads almost upon us, this was going to be the season that I bought an Apple TV, paid Steve Jobs for a season pass and watched season 2 of Heroes and season 4 of The Office legitimately.

NBC accounted for 40% of the TV sales on the itunes store. Now, without knowing the details, they have turned thousands back to bittorrent, and lost a tiny portion of revenue themselves. According to reports, they wanted higher prices for new shows and lower prices for old ones, as well as a tighter DRM restrictions. Wow, thats a lot of demanding from a failing network. Oh well. Hopefully NBC Universal’s joint venture with Fox, Hulu, will get them where they want to be in the online video world. Or not.

On a related note, NBC’s hottest property of the moment, Heroes, has sent the cast and crew on a world tour. For video of Last nights London press conference at the Gherkin, click here.

UPDATE:- Apple have released statement, saying they will withdraw NBC shows from the itunes store before the new season starts next month. They note that NBC were trying to get them to raise the wholesale price for each show, meaning Apple would have had to charge $4.99 per episode next season. Are NBC crazy??? Are they now going to take down every bittorrent tracker on the internet? Because that is the only way they will regain any revenue from this debacle. Why can’t Apple and companies called Universal get along?

Jenna Fischer

21 05 2007

Last week she fell down the stairs at an LA restaurant and broke four bones in her back. Although that sounds very serious, rest assured she will make a full recovery, and I can imagine they will make some sort of joke about it next season on The Office. You can leave get well messages for her on her myspace page.
This season she has proven herself to be the only member of the US version of this show to outperform the original, Lucy Davis. The subtle facial expressions, the hidden emotion combined with the deadpan delivery make her funny as hell. The finale (S03E24.25) was a bit long but worth it for the final scene of Pam’s face crack into a smile. Click here and watch for her face at 1:30 to see what I mean.

As for the show itself, watch my favourite moment of season three (with a little bit of Pam) after the jump.

The Office S03E15 – Phylis’s Wedding

11 02 2007

After a season of episodes on an upward curve, I guess it had to come down at some point. This was maybe the worst episode of the US version I have seen. Before it started, I imagined that American writers wouldn’t know how to do subtle obnoxious David Brent, and would resort to a loud obnoxious character that in real life would be openly challenged and regularly punch.

So how did I do?

5 02 2007

I’ll tell you how I did! I managed to watch all the TV that I said I would, and maybe more. Whats more (and this is the most important part), I enjoyed some of it, instead of turning into a zombie. Sometimes when I commit a day to catching up on my favourite programs, I end up cruising through them without paying attention, especially if its a sunday and I have laundry and other interesting and exciting things to do.

The Office S03E13 – The Return

23 01 2007

A couple of months ago NBC conducted an experimet with The Office. They aired the episode Branch Closing (S03E07) as normal on TV, and then placed an extended version on itunes, which had a plot line that had t obe cut for time reasons. Well it must have worked (or failed miserably and this is the last chance) because this week they did it again. This weekend I somehow contrived to download and delete my DivX version of The Office, so I thought I would use itunes as my bitch and watch it on my boring tube ride to work.
